Pulp - different class 1995. 12 tracks 51:58. The motorik-disco class fable Common People is probably the greatest U. Pulp - Different Class - CD. It was released in 1995, at the peak of the Britpop movement, and transformed them into an essential part of the British musical scene. By the time Different Class was released at the end of October 1995, the band, particularly lead singer Jarvis Cocker, were genuine British superstars, with two number two singles and a triumphant last-minute performance at Glastonbury under their belts, as well as one tabloid scandal. 2 single since Strawberry Fields Forever. On the heels of such excitement, anticipation for Different Class ran high, and not only does it deliver, it blows away all their previous albums, including the fine His 'n' Hers. More details here. Album 1995 12 Songs. Roy Wilkinson in Select, December 1995: On the one hand there was Tight Fit, loincloth-favouring malefemale vocal group about to take the number one spot with their lithesome re-working of Karl Denver's 'Wimoweh', where, famously, the lion sleeps tonight. It was released in 1995 at the height of Britpop, and led to the band being regarded as part of that movement. Different Class is the fifth studio album by English rock band Pulp, released on 30 October 1995 by Island Records. That's all. Different Class was awarded the Mercury Music Prize in 1996. The Pulp album Different Class is exactly what it says on the front Different Class compared to some other albums because I found the lyrics of the songs a great to sit and listen to. Nick Banks, Mark Webber, Jarvis Cocker, Candida Doyle, Steve Mackey, Russell Senior. About Different Class. This record received a stellar reception from critics, and it has grown to be recognised not only as one of the most iconic albums of Britpop, but as one of the best albums ever released. On 1995's Different Class, Pulp and Jarvis Cocker were arty outsiders worming their way into the lives of ordinary folk, and they became pop in its most democratically widespread sense. Two of the singles on the album Common People which reached number two in the UK singles chart and Disco 2000 which reached number seven were especially notable, and helped propel Pulp to nationwide fame. This is the fifth album by Pulp. In 2013, NME ranked the album at number six in its list of the 500 greatest albums of all time. And yet the album fulfilled all the promise of that hit-a consistently strong LP where losers are draped in victory flags Mis-Shapes, Disco 2000 and Jarvis Cockers lyrics pull back the yellowing curtains of suburban Britain. The first time I heard Pulps Common People was at my brothers wedding reception in the tiny English town of Tring. The album was a critical and commercial success, entering the UK Albums Chart at number one and winning the 1996 Mercury Music Prize. Different Class. Label: Simply Vinyl. The album has a sleeve note which explains the title rather well : Please understand we dont want no trouble

Discussions of the Pulp - Different Class Album

Ichalote
My copy sounds reasonable. The sound is typically digital to analog. The sound quality of a CD is probably better. My version has barcode 7 31452 41652 3 and text "Simply Fuss Free!"
Teonyo
Just got this in from Amazon. Gave it a spin clean and let it dry, popped it on a few hours later and it sounds good to me. Not sure what the fuss is about. Is it an AAA pressing? No, but it’s definitely not the crap quality these dudes are making it out to be. Using an ATLP7 w/ VMN540
Zan
How utterly disappointing: one of my favourite records ever sounds horrible on vinyl (4785288 from 2016). Now that I am reading the other reviews, I understand why.
Hugighma
I got this reissue copy thinking it would sound ok. Unfortunately it's thin and sounds compressed. Sounds better connecting my version from iTunes, which appeared to at least rip the original properly. Waste of $30.
Anarasida
Those two versions (MOV & Island) are similar because the recording is digital, but the re-issue master is better now (2016), defined, but narrow by digital compression.
Jox
Sound quality on this 2016 Island/Universal UK reissue is actually pretty good. However the cover and insert images have been quite poorly scanned. It's always a mixed bag with reissues of this classic album on vinyl. But you can't play the cover, so I guess this is the best in-print option for now. Obsessives might want to mix and match the MOV packaging with this pressing until the inevitable 30th anniversary reissue in 2025.
lacki
I also noticed this error. I guess i am an obsessive, who doesn't want to shell out a 3 figure sum for a half decent original, so i'll go with the MOV outer and additional insert, 2016 reissue's record (white centres as per original and ok sound quality), and the 2016 inner - it's better than a plain generic one (and i'll just black out the typo). Nice.
Frosha
Ordered the reissue thinking it surely can’t be that bad, but when it arrived...oh dear, how on earth can they have the cheek to put that out? Sure, you can’t play the sleeve but hey, it should at least be representative of the original. So low res it’s unreal. Even a blind bootlegger could do a better job. MOV version all the way for those on a budget.
Ce
Just wanted to add one more example of the sloppy art prep for this release. On the inner sleeve where songs are listed, track six on side one is printed as "Live Bed Show Doyle." Seems they were copying and pasting into a template and used the text from above (band member Candida Doyle's name) and forget to backspace it out. You can see it in the images linked above. How many people work at Universal? Ridiculous.
Gaua
I used to own the Music on Vinyl version of this record and I was never happy with the sound quality. Sounded like it was poorly mastered (flat and slugdy) a bit like I was listening to it under water if that makes sense. This reissue is really well done and the album sounds well balanced with good dynamics. It's far superior to the MOV version in my opinion.
Zieryn
I have an M.O.V reissue copy of this and when compared literally everything is lower quality in the 2016 re-issue.even the image on the cover is low res and fuzzy... disappointing. The album however is a superb pop record..
Iaran
My apologies, I am referring to the 2016 repress. The record pressing itself is fine...the sleeves both inner and outer are what disappointed me the most..
Camper
So, are you saying the new reissue is better or worse than the M.O.V.?
