Subtitled 30 freakbeat, mod & R&B nuggets, this is the fourth compilation from Castle in 18 months to bear Meeks name, and nearly half the tracks can be found on those earlier releases. Only one has never seen the light of day before: a demo by The Birds Of Prey, which understandably boasts little of the famous Meek magic. That said, theres plenty here for fans of both the freaky and the Meeky, not least the title track by The Buzz, who live up to their name by growling into angry overload like a bee with. The ultra-rare sole single from Edinburgh's freakbeaters. Tam White on vocals and written by guitarist Johnny Turnball. PS: This is NOT the Buzz who backed. Disc IDs 0. Cover Art 0. Значек play перед названием песни дает возможность найти mp3 и прослушать любую песню с альбома Freakbeat - You're Holding Me Down Joe Meek. Joe Meek did NOT make genre recordings. He made Joe Meek records These tunes were recorded by Meek BEFORE Psych-related techniques were introduced by Meeks's use of phasing, dissonance, and manipulation of tape speed. There were no wah-wah pedals during these early tracks. Starting with The Buzz & their recording of You're Holding Me Down, which featured a psychotically un-hinged vocal by singer Tam White, as well as a very advanced guitar tone from 1966, which was well before Psychedelic music was introduced. Next up were The Blue Rondos with Baby, I Go For You, from November, 1964. Joe Meek is most famous for the records he made in the early to mid-'60s, even the best of which usually matched futuristic, one of a kind production with quaint, silly if sometimes quite catchy tunes. This has led many critics to charge, with some justification, that trends were passing him by as British Invasion groups with grittier, more creative material overran the globe
