Remastered 2LP set with 12 page booklet including liner notes by Tim Lawrence, Ernie Brooks and Arthur Russell

Abrupt beginning, endings, edits and ambient sounds are intentional and transferred from the original tape sources. "Instrumentals" Vol. 2 was digitally transferred from the original 1984 vinyl, as the master tapes have been lost. The second side of that LP was inadvertently mastered at half-speed, and has now been corrected (Side Two tracks 2-3 and Side Three tracks 1-2 [tracks B2, B3 and C1, C2]).
All material previously released on the 2006 Audika Records compilation Arthur Russell - First Thought Best Thought

Arthur Russell born Charles Arthur Russell Jr. May 21, 1951 April 4, 1992 was an American cellist, composer, producer, singer, and musician from Iowa, whose work spanned a disparate range of styles. Trained in contemporary experimental composition and Indian classical music, Russell relocated to New York in the mid-1970s, where he became associated with Lower Manhattan's avant-garde community as well as the city's disco scene. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Russell produced a considerable. Critic Score. a handle on Arthur Russells discursive career would be tough, even if everything had been well documented. But in the decade following his death in 1992, Russell existed not so much as an artist with an in-print catalog than he did as a rumor-one with the highest class of reputation. The latter was intended as a double-album set, though the label that first released Instrumentals in 1984 managed to lose its opening half and to master the second half at the wrong speed. Is there a reason this is listed as a version of "first thought..." an not it's own release, as Tower of Meaning?

Anyways my copy sounds great. The booklet comes with is a really nice forward of sorts by Tim Lawrence.
